Is it springtime yet? (Luna’s Color Challenge – Week 16: Lime)

Around this time of year, I develop a serious craving for some springtime; even if the weather warms up a bit, it seems that there’s no end to the gray and bluster of February. Fortunately, Luna Jubilee brought out electric lime, just in time! These Coco pants were about an electric a lime as I’d ever wear; what wonderful textures and shine! I paired them with a sweet Coco cardigan and wedge sneakers to make my gardening a bit more comfortable than it would have been in heels! And though I had trouble deciding which of the new hairstyles from Truth to wear with this outfit I knew I wouldn’t go wrong with either; this one is Whitney.

Après-ski

While winter is still here, it makes sense to take advantage of it. So though I’m already thinking of turning my sim from snow to green, I decided one last expedition to the slopes was in order. One of the marvelous things about SL is that you *can* spend an afternoon skiing, then replace your ski boots with prestige boots and indulge in après-ski activities with perfect makeup, artfully tousled hair, and not a single aching muscle. Ah, if only that were true in RL where runny noses, aching thighs and snow-damp hair are much more likely. (Okay, given the choice I’d take the slopes of New Mexico over those of SL any day, but since I’m not *there* I may as well enjoy being *here*!)

STYLE NOTES: I’m trying out Linda 3, a brand new skin from PXL Creations. I saw the skin being modeled by someone I’ve long admired and she looked so beautiful I simply had get the demo. Being new to PXL, I was thrilled to discover that, yes, light brows are included in every package (along with darker ones, of course)! Lots of lovely lips are available, as are a number of great tattoo eyeshadows to buy separately. (Guess that means I’ll be heading back there often!)

Going places

It seems to just get busier & busier! This was me yesterday, heading out to a fashion show and party at fabulous new club called Club Infusion. What fun! Loads of people, great music, terrific dances! Saw some old friends, and met some new ones. I didn’t get any pictures because I was afraid to turn up my graphics settings, but I will try to go back with camera sometime when there’s a little less activity. I’m keeping a bit silent about the fabulous fashion show because I was fortunate enough to receive new items from both of the featured designers. So…another blog post coming up soon!

Ready

There’s a feeling that comes over you, after you’ve been pent up inside for too long. Maybe the weather has kept you in, or work, or life events have made you mopey and reclusive. But after a while, you start climbing the walls. Some people call it cabin fever, but to me that always suggests maniac mountain man with a knife in his mouth. So I just call it ‘ready.’ Ready for excitement, ready for fun, ready to cut loose. Ready for the storm. I’m ready.

You are a mirror

Everyone knows the expression about eyes being the windows to the soul. Not so true in SL, where eyes are eyes; and only words, in text or voice, add a dimension of meaning. Having observed a bit of SL drama of late, it occurred to me to wonder whether, rather than being windows, eyes here are mirrors. Perhaps we see what we want to see: the reflection of our best selves in others. Or sometimes, a reflection of our truest hopes or our greatest fears. Someone perceives an acquaintance to be a new best friend. A pose-ball partner is seen as a soulmate. A predator appears to be a lover. Or a lover appears to be a predator. All those RL skills we’ve spent a lifetime developing — those we like to call ‘intuition’ — forsake us here. Some are deceived and leave. Other press on. All I know is, I can look at myself in the mirror in the morning — in worlds both virtual and real — and feel good about the person looking back at me.

Sweet and blue

Yeah, whatever

You ever have one of those days where everything just makes you want to say, ‘whatever’? I mean, like, you wake up and you can’t find anything to wear — even though your closet is stuffed to the gills. Then it seems like you’re late for everything and people snap at you for no reason and you step into a huge puddle of sleet on the way home and your formerly waterproof boots spring a multitude of leaks. Then you get home and none of the food in the fridge looks remotely appetizing and the movie you’d planned to watch didn’t get recorded and all you can do is say ‘whatever.’ Ever have one of those days? What? You haven’t? Um…right, i haven’t either. Yeah, whatever…

The Sunday News (Releases from Truth & Gos)

Okay, okay — so, I got the notices and picked up the items on Saturday, but it does take a girl a little time to get all dolled up and take a picture (and, um, maybe stop off at a few clubs along the way), so to me they are the Sunday ‘news’! First Tegan 2, this fabulous Truth hairstyle — one of three new releases today. Not quite sure I’m ‘hipster’ enough to carry off the porkpie hat, but really wanted to show it off. (Most days I’ll probably wear the Tegan — same style sans hat.) And then these amazing boots from Gos, with so many textures (leather *and* suede!) and colors and things that can be modified. You even get 3 different heel choices: stiletto, chunky, and wedge. Not to mention a terrific fitting system that makes adjustments an absolute snap. Whew! Now that I’ve told you all that, I think I’m gonna spend the rest of my Sunday lazing on the couch and reading the Times. So, could someone please bring me a coffee? Thanks!
