Oh, Coco!

Olive — 52 Weeks of Color Challenge

Another Saturday, another color for the challenge. And another day to relax and reflect. Tangerine (52 Weeks of Color Challenge)

This week, the color challenge color is tangerine. I don’t tend to wear much in the yellow-orange family but something about the color suggested a retro vibe; I think I’m channeling the 80s, here, with my slick tight pants and my furry vest! Renewal

Whatever the weather, and whatever date it falls on, Easter has always seemed to me to be the official beginning of spring. I imagine pagan rituals that predate our Judeo-Christian era, where the great goddess welcomes the sun god and allows him to warm her winter-chilled flesh. The fields are tilled, the crust of earth turned over to reveal the soft, dark underneath which will embrace and nurture spring’s new seed. And there is rejoicing in the knowledge that another winter has passed, and we’ve survived. I don’t know anything about farming or crops, and I don’t know much about pagan rituals, but I do know something about renewal. And today, that’s what I celebrate. The end of a cold winter. The warmth of new sun. A world filled with possibilities.

Aubergine (52 Weeks of Color Challenge — Eggplant)

Color is probably what hooked me on SL to begin with; all the beautiful colors, a world that can make RL look drab by comparison. And every week I scour my inventory — and the shops — to come up with my look for Luna’s color challenge. This week the color is eggplant. And I was surprised to find it so difficult. I’ve got loads of purply things, but one seemed too violet, another too rose, a third too lilac and a fourth too dark. This gorgeous lace top from Whippet & Buck definitely fits the bill though. I’ve got it in ‘antique’ and black as well, but have to say that my favorite is this deep inviting aubergine.

Early (52 weeks of color — asparagus)

Early spring. The pots of plants and flowers that were so dried and dead this long winter are finally budding again. The sky is gray today, but there’s a promise of spring, of lovely joyful spring. I woke up early this morning, and walked through the park where all sorts of green things are springing to life. The birds are singing their happiness, and so am I.

I’m early, I know, for week 23 of Luna Jubilee’s 52 weeks of color challenge, but had all these lovely green things and couldn’t resist.

Banana Mania is the color of the week. Hmm… I don’t think that’s *really* a color. Nevertheless, I did try to capture something of the essence of banana. Sky Blue (52 Weeks of Color Challenge)

For me the challenge in picking out what to wear for this week’s color was which of the many fabulous sky blue things in my inventory to put on.  But then I spotted this lovely little flower (and pose) in my inventory, which led to getting dressed for a walk around the home sim.  Isn’t it lovely when you go out and catch sight of some of the first signs of spring?  A brand new flower and a clear, blue sky.  Even as you’re enjoying the feel of soft breezes and lazy sunshine, you know that it’s not really spring — that it’ll get cold again, and winds will blow before true spring arrives — but seeing these first signs of the earth’s emergence from the chill of winter brings joy to my heart.
