It doesn’t matter how happy I am; I always love sad love songs. Like shadows that make sunlight appear brighter, sad love songs shine a light on happiness; you grasp it because you know how ephemeral it can be. You treasure it. You resolve to live every day in the moment, while listening to music in a minor key.
This week’s color for Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge is denim. Since blues and greens are my favorite colors — and I spend much of my SL life in jeans — I’d have thought this one would be easy for me. But I found it difficult to find a fresh take on denim. Giving up, then, on ‘fresh,’ I thought about what it means, what it suggests. I thought of how deeply embedded it is in the fabric of our American experience, so to speak, and its association with some uniquely American art forms, such as country music. Which brought me to ‘sad love songs,’ and this post.
