Lost in a cold desert (52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Ecru)

Lost Ecru 2

Since I started blogging and taking photographs I’ve spent a fair amount of in-world time alone. It’s so beautiful here: the colors, the flowers, the hillsides, and of course the sea and the sky. But if you don’t get out and socialize at all, it can begin to seem like a cold and lonely place. Come to think of it, real life is like that too. So, while the introverts among us may enjoy our moments of solitude, it’s important not to get totally lost in them, as I am in this cold, lonely desert.

(In memory of Nat. Rest in peace, sweet child.)

So sweet, Lisa! (I don’t want to tell you what I went through to get that shot…and it turns out there was one stupid thing I’d done wrong. But learned so much in the process!)

This is REALLY lovely! You will have to tell me your secrets to getting such a good shot! I had a REALLY hard time this week…just seemed like nothing came together. I can always use good tips!…:))

Thanks, EF! This one did take a lot of work because it absolutely was not coming together at all to start with. The backdrop and ground are a shot i took on my sim after playing around in windlight. There are some great windlight settings that don’t work for fashion photography because they’re too dark or make avatars horribly unattractive, but that can be great for backdrops. It still wasn’t working — the backdrop was too ‘obvious’ — until I dug into my inventory and found the Zigana winter grass which helped hide the backdrop seams. A little adjustment of windlight setting. Then I played with color a tiny bit in PhotoShop (you can do same in any graphics program). Anyway, it’s always constant experimentation for me, and I’d say my bad shots outweigh my ‘good’ ones at least 20:1! If you have any specific questions, feel free to email. I’m happy to share the little bit I’ve learned!

Beautiful… Sad, but stunning at the same time and the serenity matches perfectly with this weeks colour… it is simply gorgeous!

Thanks, Rudh! I guess the picture was successful at least in capturing my mood as I worked on it. So glad you like it!

    Beautiful pic …
and I agree … it’s important for introverts and loners like me to socialize now and then … even it’s not always as easy done as said … lol …
but taking part in a challenge can definately be a way 😉

    • #12 by Ocean Wade on March 6, 2011 - 12:26 pm

Aww, Mayala, thank you! And yes, I think Luna’s challenge has been an amazing gift to bloggers, and particularly to some of us newer bloggers. What a great way to get to know the blogging community!

Gorgeous! I love the colors! ❤

    • #14 by Ocean Wade on March 7, 2011 - 6:28 pm

Thanks, Moniq! You know, not usually colors I’d choose as I’m more into the blues & greens, but yes, the sky came out so nicely thanks to SL and Photoshop!

Thanks, Kaelyn! Yeah, Emma makes absolutely gorgeous things. (and I am *always’ forgetting stuff in inventory; maybe it’s time I just stop pretending that I’ll get it all organized one day.) 😉
